2011 has seen an upgrade in many of the services at Balbi Golf and also the addition of some new technology.

FocusBand is an Australian company that developed a wireless EEG system that can monitor brainwave activity and provide real time feedback so that athletes (yes, golfers are athletes) can learn how to get into the “Zone”. We have worked with several Tour and mini tour players in addition to many amateurs and all report positive results. One high school golfer credits FocusBand with receiving a full golf scholarship.

Guru Training Systems is an emerging 3-d motion technology that relies on a 3-d camera to capture motion. This exciting technology has been years in the making an will finally allow us to measure motion without sensors.

Vector Putting  - Pioneering Green Reading since 1984 – Many of you learned AimPoint Green Reading in 2010 and many of you are aware that we were disappointed with the adoption rate. A recent survey found that 100% of participants believed that AimPoint works but only 18% were using it because they found it to be confusing or time consuming. Obviously, as a teacher, that is not an acceptable adoption rate and therefore I have partnered with fellow PGA professional Mike Schy and information design guru David McDougal to license the Vector Putting System that was pioneered by Col. H.A. Templeton in the 1980′s. Initial testing has shown that the Vector Green Reading System is easier to learn and faster to implement. We are in the process of producing an online version of the Vector training which will be available in 2 flavours, Basic and Advanced. Previous AimPoint students will receive a 50% discount when they learn Vector. Stay tuned for more details.

EDEL GOLF – Custom putters continue to be a large part of my business and the last few months have seen a huge increase in the interest in Belly Putters. Several of the younger Tour Players – particularly PGA Champion Michael Bradley – have adopted the belly putter but one thing remains constant. You have to be able to aim the putter! An Edel putter fitting will get you aiming in the right direction.
